Working Toward Preparedness!

Good evening!
Today as I was sitting with a group of youth, I looked around and thought about all the talent that was within this school cafeteria.  As this group of 3 young men sat and talked about their plans for the weekend, they were excited that it was a possibility of snow in the forecast.   This led us into a conversation about what IF this was the BIG snow of the winter.   YES PLEASE!!!   One wanted  lots of snow to have a snowball fight with, one to build a snow man, and the other wasn't as impressed, he had other plans for the weekend as he and his family had travel plans.  No matter what the weather brings, we all agreed it was something we needed to be aware of and heed the weather advisories.  We needed to be prepared!

Young people need to develop competencies and skills to ready themselves for overall wellness, work and life skills. Competencies range from cognitive, social, emotional, vocational, and cultural.  With these competencies, youth are in a better position to successfully overcome adversity, as well as to accomplish personal goals.
Lets start to set goals and learn to prepare our work to reach and maintain those goals, no matter the age.

Tomorrow we wrap up our 4 competencies with:  Safety and Basic Needs
